Deepak Chopra and me
sorry it’s been a few months since I last wrote anything. Not that I didn’t want to! We switched servers and blog hosts and I just haven’t been able to learn the new stuff yet. So this is my first try…we’ll see how it goes!
The biggest news is that I went to the Chopra Center at the La Costa Spa the last week in August and I have to tell you, my experience there literally changed my life – and I don’t say things like that easily.
I did their week-long program called Perfect Health, which is an Ayurvedic Cleansing regime, including daily deep, detoxifying oil massages and herbalized enemas (panche karma). There were 20 of us from around the US and Canada in my group. Some didn’t even know why they were there – someone told them they had to go, so they went. Others were sick and looked at this as a new way to heal. Most had never medititated or done yoga before – which we did twice a day – so it was an eye opening experience for many.

I’ve been meditating since my late 20′s (I’m 44 now) and doing yoga for about the same period of time. And I’ve read a lot of books on Ayurveda so I was ready. But I had no idea how much this would resonate with me. Balancing my constitution is a key component of what has been missing in other healing systems I’ve studied. Ayurvda takes the entire ME into account and offers a gentle, calm, nourishing way to balance and sustain. And when I’m balanced, I better able to serve others. that’s what it’s all about.
So now I read my ayurvedic books in a whole new light. I’m cooking all my meals (Indian) and everything I put in my mouth nourishes me. Nothing is wasted. Nothing extra. I’m satisfied. and I’ve lost 23 pounds in the past two months. It’s not just about weight loss – it’s about creating a balanced body to go along with practice of balaning mind and spirit as well.
I’m taking another Chopra workshop -this time in Colorado – at the end of November with Deepak, Dr. David Simon (an inredible healer), David Frawley and others. This is a four-day educational program. I’m such an evangalist now. I literally eat, sleep and breathe Ayurveda and I can’t wait to keep learning.
I just wanted to share this with you as it’s been such a force in my life. I even dreamt about Deepak the other ngiht! Oh my…
More soon..
love to you all…
